Oneonta Gorge

Before we took off for Montana we spent a
few days with our friends the Campbells.
They took us to a champagne brunch at Skamania Lodge.
Wow... a lot of food and a beautiful place. Did not get any pictures of the
lodge.  However, we went on a hike at Oneonta Gorge. Here are the pictures.

First we had to climb over a log jam.

On the other side it was pretty cool.

This was our crew.  Obviously I am behind the
camera, but I was there too.

The water in the stream got a little deeper.

It was up to our knees here.

This part was about chest high.  We scaled the side so we wouldn't get so wet.

Carmen was the only brave one. She just waded through it :)

Then we got there...

 Photo ops...

Then back over the logs.  We were tired, but HAPPY!!!

It was not a hot day, so it was a little chilly.  Had to do it.
Jamie and I were a little sick too.  Sorry again
Jamie for getting you sick.  My parting gift to you...
You can get me back later.

Green Lakes

We had a wonderful weekend. Watson's were here
and it was great to be with them. The weather here has been beautiful.
A little warm during the day, but it cools off at night.

We decided to do a beautiful hike on a beautiful day.

We hiked 8 miles
up a mountain stream.

Most of the trail was shaded, but very busy.
There is only a brief window of opportunity to get up
to these lakes.

We had to cross the river several times.

There is still snow on the ground.
It was also 90 degrees.

There were also lost of flowers

Once a the top it was magnificent!

This is the view of the South Sister from the lakes. You can hike to the top...
I DON'T THINK SO!!!

This is Broken Top from the lakes.
I think you can go up there too...ditto!

This is Green Lake. It is so clear.

We were tuckered out.  Dana and I laid on the ground to rest and the girls
found a couple of trees.

Our feet hurt and we were starving by the time we were done.
Note to self:
Take more food and water.
Plan to spend more time resting before the descent :)
Eight miles is a long walk...

This week I am an instructor in Pioneer Service School.
We have 23 students and everyone is doing well.

We have another two week school with 31 students and then we leave
for Montana!

Life is busy, but good. We think of you often.

Love to all
