Signs of Spring

Wild flowers on our hike to Catherine's Creek, WA

Catherine's Creek

My black and white button got switched on

There was a natural rock arch we climbed up to.  :)

Monica and Ashley climbing the trail.

There was a gap you could climb up into.  It took you to the top of the arch.

Ryan in the crack.  This was so fun.

You can see the arch a little better here.

Down there is where we climbed FROM :)

Don't know if you can make this out, but this is under the arch...from the top!
Monica wouldn't let me walk on top of it  :(

I think this is the clearest picture I have taken of the Columbia Gorge.  It was about 45 degrees but
beautiful...

Exotic animal farm...
This guy has all these exotic animals and you can drive through his place.
Not sure what he does with them.  Probably another
Californian trying to be different...    :)

Zebra

Buffalo...

             Giraffes

One final picture...

This...is a Dog Poop bag.  Everyone here walks their
dogs, but they have to pick up their poop.  These handy dandy
bags are provided for you to properly dispose of your
best friend's waste.

The owner of this baggy apparently did not want to carry
it through the whole trail, so left it for their
return trip back to the trail head.

Isn't that nice...

News for this week.  As many of you know, we will be moving to Big Sky country.
In September we will be setting off for
MONTANA!!!

I am told it is the pretty side of Montana.  We will be close to Glacier National Park.
We will keep everyone updated.  It is all still very new and
we are working on adjusting.  We have met so many people and
doggone...we don't want to go.  But that is why we call this

Our Big Adventure...

Our Week in Review...

It was a sunny week in the Gorge.

Mt. Hood was bright in the sun...

We got several amazing pictures of the Gorge and the mountains.  This is the Columbia River.

This is a Kingdom Hall in Washington.

The landscaping was nice.  Lots of ROCKS here, for those
who are aware of my rock fascination...  :)

This is the White Salmon River...very pretty.

Our side adventure this week...WATERFALLS

The first...

A little fuzzy because it was pouring down rain, but it made the falls AWESOME!!!

I had to keep drying my lens.

See the little guys on the right.  Not sure where they were from, but they were posers.  We saw them a couple of times doing the same poses in front of each waterfall.

The second...

The falls and...the posers :)

We hike up to this bridge and you can't see it, but there is a deck on the top of the big falls.  We go there too.

This is off the side of the bridge...

This is off the other side toward the falls...

CRAZY TREES!!!!

The moss covers the trees.  Moss grows on everything the further west you go.  It is like a rain forest.

Over the edge from the TOP!!!

See the itty bitty cars down there?

Andy, Amelia and Monica...

Brave souls they are!!!

Andy, Amelia, and me...on top.

Thought this was a beautiful picture upstream from the falls.

That is all for this week.  Looks like rain all week.  Hope not though.
Two more weeks up north and head back down to
Central Oregon.

All is well. Had a little head something last week, but I am all better.
Enjoy the pictures and we hope to let everyone know soon if
we will be in Oregon for a while.

Some new peeps!!  We like em...

Took a walk along the river.  It was a beautiful day.

This is locally called 'paddle' boarding.
It was about 60 degrees, but the water had to be freezing.

We went hiking with this awesome family.  The kids were great and the mom and dad were awesome.  Dad cooked curried chicken.  Unbelievable...should have taken a picture of it!

The river had to be freezing.  It comes right off the mountains.

We went back north to the Gorge.  Decided to take the mountain road...
Need I say more.

It just kept getting worse...

and worse...

even a little worserer...   :)

See the guard rail.  The snow was well above the car.

These are containers for the fruit.  We saw rows and rows of them.  This summer they will be full of apples, pears, blueberries, and cherries.  Looks almost like a building, doesn't it.

More plastic bins...

June always talked about 'Hot Buttered Rum'.  Monica had to try it.

This is hot buttered rum.

Didn't really care for it...although it was very "rummy"  :)

We are doing good.  Sorry the pictures aren't very good.  Hope to have something
more interesting soon.

We are settling into the routine.  We both love it.

My big NEWS!!! I passed the Oregon driver's test finally.  It only took me three
tries.  How frustrating!  Monica passed it the first time.  I am not a good
test taker.  Missed it by 1 the 2nd time.  You can only miss 8 and I missed 9.

Monica's big NEWS!!!  Her and a bunch of girls went snow-shoeing on Mt  Bachelor.  She said it
was hilarious.

I wish I could have gone.

Take care all.  Til next time...
